ANTI-CORROSIVE COATING FOR STEEL AND CONCRETE DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION

Sika® Rustop is cement bound synthetic resin modified 2-component coating for corrosion protection on reinforcement and concrete. Ideally suited to rehabilitate corroded reinforcement.

USES

Protects new or old reinforcement steel in construction from corrosion ▪ Ideal for protecting reinforcements with insufficient cover or in thin sections ▪ Protects embedded steel in repairable structures from further corrosion after rehabilitation ▪ Protects concrete against the action of Calcium Chlorides and de-icing salts

Density Part A+B mixed : 2.10 kg/L at +30°C

Consumption

Approx one pack of 1.25 kg covers 3 – 4 sqft for 2 coats depending on the diameter of the reinforcement. Average consumption is 3.6 to 4 kg per sqm for two coats depending on type of application.

APPLICATION

INSTRUCTIONS SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT Should be free from oil, dirt and grease. For concrete remove cement skin, loose particles etc. Cavities, pin holes should be levelled. For steel sand blasting or wire brushing is essential. APPLICATION Gradually add powder Part B to liquid Part A in a wide mouth container and stir well for approximately 3 minutes till a brushable consistency is achieved. Apply first coat on cleaned reinforcement within 20 – 30 minutes of preparation. Then apply second coat after 2 – 3 hours of first coat. Subsequent concreting must be done after 24 hours.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Wash tools with Sika® Colma Cleaner immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically
